We're keeping your pet's visit healthy and safe!
Pet Paradise is committed to ensuring your pet’s experience is fun — and safe.
In an effort to keep communication around the safety of your pets as transparent as possible, we want you to be aware when reports of Canine Infectious Respiratory Disease Complex (CIRDC) cases in our community are on the rise. CIRDC is a group of infections that can cause coughing, sneezing, runny noses, and lethargy. Like the flu in humans, CIRDC can be easily transmitted when animals are in groups (and like the flu, it can progress to a more serious illness).
The good news is that when pets are vaccinated, their risk of serious illness is reduced. The vaccinations required at Pet Paradise, like Bordetella and DAPP, protect against many CIRDC illnesses.
We’ve also increased our cleaning processes to reduce the occurrence or spread of CIRDC. That’s why our teams focus on daily disinfecting and always inspecting.
Daily Disinfecting
Our staff at every Pet Paradise resort is trained to disinfect and treat every item and suite that any guest comes in contact with.
- Daily scrubbing of each suite with pet-safe disinfectant
- Washing pet bedding daily
- Cleaning play areas, toys, and shared water bowls with pet-safe disinfectants
Always Inspecting
Upon arrival for every pet's trip to Paradise, our staff will evaluate each guest for any symptoms that could be directly linked to CIRDC.
- Requiring verification of all pet guest’s core vaccines
- Screening for runny noses, watery eyes, or coughs when pet guests arrive
- Immediately isolating any pet that displays signs of illness during their stay — and contacting pet parents to make pickup arrangements
Consider Breed & Age
We recommend pet parents consider delaying if your dog has one of the following characteristics, as they can be more susceptible to CIRDC:
- Brachycephalic breeds (e.g., breed with short snouts, such as Frenchies, Bulldogs, Pugs)
- Elderly dogs (over 8 years old)
- Puppies (under 7 months)
The Importance of Vaccinations
We strongly advocate adding the Canine Influenza vaccine to your pet’s vaccination list. The American Veterinary Medical Association recommends that dogs who spend time with other animals in social settings such as day camps, dog parks, or dog-friendly restaurants be vaccinated, as it can provide an additional level of protection. Talk to your veterinarian about the two-dose process.

Tip! Our NewDay Veterinary Care team recommends dog parents add the canine influenza vaccine to their preventative care plan, as it provides an added level of protection against viruses.
If you have any questions or concerns about CIRDC or our cleaning protocols, feel free to reach out to your local Pet Paradise resort. We're here to help!
