Supporting the Community
Since opening our first location in 2002, Pet Paradise has provided support to more than 100 dog and cat charity organizations in a variety of ways.
Barkin' Biscuits Program
Pet Paradise has an active partnership with the North Florida School of Special Education. Their Barkin' Biscuits program focuses on vocational training for Transition and Post-graduate students with disabilities. Students who participate in the program learn to follow recipes, mix ingredients, roll and cut the dough, bake the biscuits, and package them. Their dog treats are all natural, incorporating fresh ingredients from their school's farm, Berry Good Farms. You can find Barkin’ Biscuits at all Pet Paradise resort locations.
Pet Rescue Groups
Each year, Pet Paradise partners with local pet rescue groups to offer boarding and day camp services to help reduce overcrowding in the shelters. We also sponsor rescue and pet-related events throughout the community.
In one example, Pet Paradise donated $50,000 to K9s for Warriors to help support their efforts and build a new training facility in Jacksonville, FL. K9s For Warriors is dedicated to providing service canines to our Warriors suffering from Post-traumatic Stress Disability, traumatic brain injury, and/or military sexual trauma as a result of military service post-9/11. They provide Warriors with a service canine, equipment, training, certification, seminars, legal instruction, vet care, housing, home-cooked meals, unconditional love and listening, and lifetime of wrap-around services (including available life-long healthcare and food for their dogs). Their goal is to empower Warriors to return to civilian life with dignity and independence.
Homes for the Holidays
In 2023, Pet Paradise partnered with Florida Urgent Rescue (FUR) to make the holiday season brighter by helping find forever homes for dogs in need. To ensure a smooth transition for the new furry family member, Pet Paradise provided four FUR dogs with a complimentary 21-day board-and-train dog experience prior to their adoption. Additionally, NewDay Veterinary Care offered a free wellness plan for a full year, guaranteeing a healthy and happy start in their new lives.
Supporting Pet Therapy at Nemours Children's Health
Pet Paradise and Nemours Children's Health joined forces to further the hospital's Pet Therapy Programs. With our support, volunteer dogs and handlers visited children seeking treatment at Nemours from across the country. These animals bring light and comfort into these halls, and we are so proud to have helped bring the healing power of pets to children with life-threatening illnesses and injuries.
Food for Paws Pet Food Drive
During past holiday seasons, Pet Paradise teamed up with local pet food banks and rescue groups to collect pet food for its Annual Food for Paws Pet Food Drive. Pet Paradise collected and distributed over 475,000 pounds of pet food. This pet food not only directly helped rescue groups in need but also provided pet food directly to struggling pet owners, allowing them to keep their pets.
