Meet Our Veterinarians

Hello! My name is Dr. Erica Dickerson. I have practiced as a small animal general practitioner for 7 years and I highly enjoy every single aspect of it! I love getting to take care of all the fur babies and having a genuine relationship with their parents to develop the best ways to keep their baby happy and healthy. I’m originally from Nashville, Tennessee, and I have 4 fur babies of my own. I’ve been in Savannah for 5 years and I have just recently moved to the Jacksonville area. I am excited to meet new pet parents in the Jacksonville area, and help take care of your fur babies by building a trusting relationship with you.

Dr. Alejandra Perez is originally from Venezuela and was raised in Pembroke Pines, FL. She graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2020 and now calls Apollo Beach home with her family, including her dogs, Turbo and Aura, and her cat, Ahsoka. Dr. Perez’s special interests lie in internal medicine and nutrition, ensuring the best care for her furry patients. Beyond her work, she loves to travel with her husband and son, and is an avid foodie and wine enthusiast, always on the lookout for culinary adventures. When she’s not tending to her patients or exploring new restaurants, you might catch her enjoying karaoke – which most of her patients have been known to tolerate.

Dr. Lawrence Possien graduated from Auburn University’s College of Vet Medicine in 1989, where he also earned Biology and Psychology degrees. I previously owned veterinary clinics for 20 years. One fun fact, Dr. Possien is retired from racing, where is road raced Miata’s. He is an active wargamer and is trying to develop his skills at painting miniature figures. He is also an avid gardener of vegetables and makes his own Tabasco/Cayenne/Gong Bao red pepper flakes.

Dr. Adlerstein, originally from New York, eventually made her way down to North Carolina where she went to veterinary school. In 2018, Dr. Adlerstein graduated from NC State College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Adlerstein then made her way down to Florida about 3 years ago to be closer to family. She enjoys getting to know her clients and their pets, and providing quality care to them. She also has an interest in shelter medicine as well. In her free time, Dr. Adlerstein enjoys reading, and is also trying to learn how to play piano! Dr. Adlerstein cannot wait to meet all of her clients and patients!

A native of Miami Beach, Dr. Zwilling attended the University of Florida (Go Gators) graduating with a B.S. in Animal Science. He then completed his Veterinary degree at Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Z founded and was medical director of his own Animal Hospital in the city of Lauderhill and Tamarac area for many years before coming to Pet Paradise. Dr. Zwilling is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and The Broward County VMA.“I plan to continue to use my knowledge and skills in the practice of Veterinary medicine here at Pet Paradise. I can help our clients make medical and surgical decisions in a way that’s best for their pets and their family”. I currently live in Parkland with Nancy and our four dogs. Molly (Lhasa Poo), Bode (Standard Poodle) ,and Bugs & Spud (Chihuahua’s). I also have two hospital cats named Split and Mois. My interests include spending time with my family, and training and playing sports. I have two daughters. My older daughter Hope earned a Master’s degree at UWF and played collegiate tennis. My younger daughter Zoe graduated from UF and played golf and tennis at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School.

Dr. Hayley Barr graduated with her veterinary medical degree from the University of Tennessee in 2022. Prior to this, she attended Stetson University in central Florida and recieved two Bachelor's of Science degrees in both biology and psychology. As much as she loved her home state of Tennessee, she couldn't wait to move back to the Sunshine State. She has been practicing in the South Florida area for over 4 years and loves it here!

Dr. Julie Haas graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2015 after completing her clinical year at NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine.

She believes every pet is part of the family and treats every patient as such. While puppy kisses and playful kittens are welcome, Dr. Haas enjoys making every stage of a pet’s bond with their family the healthiest, happiest, and longest possible.

Areas of medicine that she takes special interest in include internal medicine, exotic animals like guinea pigs and bearded dragons, and senior pet care.

In her spare time, she cherishes precious moments with her son and daughter. Some of her fun times include baking pies or muffins from scratch with her son; teaching her African Grey, Winston, how to talk and sing; playing fetch with their dog Oliver; and rollerblading.

Dr. Yaritza E Serrano-Laureano (Dr. Serrano), grew up in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, and knew at a very young age that she wanted to be a Veterinarian. She completed undergraduate studies at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez campus, before moving to Louisiana for veterinary school. She graduated from Louisiana State University, School of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. After graduating, she moved to Florida and started working in small animal practice, focusing on pet wellness and preventive care. When not at work, Dr. Serrano loves spending time with her husband and son, and their 3 dogs. She also enjoys running, skating and salsa dancing.

Dr. Jenelle Marshall-Fernandez’s lifelong love for animals led her to want to be a veterinarian since the age of 7 years old! Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. Marshall first practiced in her home country for several years after graduating from the University of the West Indies in 2012. After migrating to Florida, and while obtaining the necessary licenses to practice in the US, Dr. Marshall worked as a veterinary technician- an experience that would prove to be invaluable for gaining further knowledge and skills in practicing the Gold Standard of veterinary medicine.

Dr. Aaron Luckey is a native of Indiana, but has called Charlotte home for the past 20 years. He completed his undergraduate work at the University of Findlay in Ohio and received his DVM from the University of Tennessee. He has been in small animal practice in the Matthews and Monroe areas. He enjoys medical and surgical care of dogs, cats and pocket pets. In addition to his four children, he shares his home with 5 dogs, 2 cats and a rabbit. In his free time, he enjoys watching University of Tennessee athletics, outdoor activities with his family, cooking and playing the piano.

Dr. Parker is from upstate NY where she earned her BS and DVM degrees at Cornell University. She moved to FL to be closer to her family and has lived in Bradenton for the past 15 years. Outside of work she enjoys time with her dogs (a Border Collie named Jarrah, and a Mini Aussie mix named Kiah) and family, playing tennis, and traveling.

Originally born and raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Dr. Hanning has lived in the Jacksonville area on and off since 2004. Growing up with a menagerie of cats, dogs, hamsters, and gerbils, she had wanted to be a veterinarian since she was four years old. Unfortunately for her, Dr. Hanning was found to be allergic to almost everything with fur! Not to be deterred from her dreams, she received two years of allergy injections to build her immunity to the antigens of the furry creatures that she loved. After receiving her Bachelors of Biology with a minor in Public Health, from the University of North Florida, Dr. Hanning was accepted to the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine.

While in veterinary school, Dr. Hanning became enamored with dentistry, cardiology, emergency, and internal medicine. She pursued additional clerkships in reproductive surgery, cardiac imaging, dental surgery, and business management while obtaining her doctorate. Dr. Hanning enjoys fostering pets being able to give back to the community by helping pets in need.

At home, Dr. Hanning has two adopted mutts, Hazel and Kirby, as well as an elderly adopted cat named Leonard, and a foster-fail cat named Razue. She enjoys feeding the stray cats and ducks in her neighborhood, playing board games, swimming, and watching football; she is an avid Florida Gators and Denver Broncos fan.

Dr. Brandi Tucker is a proud Cum Laude graduate of the historic Tuskegee University's College of Veterinary Medicine. Two years ago, she moved to the pleasantly warmer State of Florida, and has been in practice at a high paced privately owned small animal hospital south of Orlando. Since moving to Orlando with her husband, and mini zoo of fur babies (her husband's words), the Sanford area has become a comforting reminder of their own hometowns. Dr. Tucker is passionate about appyling the constantly progressing "Gold Standards of Veterinary Care," and utilizing all the growing resources available to the Veterinary Community of Orlando. She understands how much you love your furry family members and is looking forward to helping you give them their healthiest and happiest lives possible.

Dr. Trench was born and raised in Boston, Ma. She obtained her bachelor's degree in animal science from The University of Georgia, before attending and graduating from Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine In 2018. After graduation, Dr. Trench moved back to the metro Atlanta area, where she's practiced small animal medicine. Her professional interests include dermatology and nutrition. While away from the work, Dr. Trench enjoys spending quality time with her family, traveling, and watching/attending Patriot football games. She's excited to see new patients and connect with clients regarding the care of their pets.

Dr. Connolly grew up in Canada and graduated from the University of Montreal in 2001. She promotes medicine for the mind, body and soul, “treat the patient and not the disease.” Dr. Connolly published her first book in 2011 titled “Animal Teachings” and just released her sequel book in 2021.

Dr. Cariño is originally from the Philippines where she earned her DVM degree from the University of the Philippines Los Baños in 1998. She started as a large-scale swine farm veterinarian until she moved to the US in 2004, where she gathered diverse experience from working at mixed-animal hospitals, HQHV spay & neuter clinics, as well as animal shelter hospitals. Dr. Cariño is most passionate about providing her patients with the latest gold standard of care in veterinary medicine including soft-tissue surgery, immunotherapy, and regenerative medicine. Outside of work, she loves to paint on silk, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family and Dagul, their 7-year-old English Mastiff. Dr. Cariño has been recognized as our 2022 Veterinarian of the Year!

Dr. Collins was born and raised in Maine. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont and began her career as a computer software engineer. Driven by a lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian, she later changed paths, completing her MBA in 2010 and graduating from Colorado State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in 2013. Compassionate and dedicated, Dr. Collins is committed to helping animals feel their best. She is particularly passionate about preventative care, dermatology, and surgery. Before joining NewDay, she owned and operated her own practice, where she provided high-quality medicine paired with heartfelt, compassionate care. Dr. Collins now calls Northeast Florida home. In her spare time, she enjoys puzzles, snuggling with her dogs, and spending quality time with her husband and their family.
